Creating Innovative and Genuine Opportunities for People with Disabilities or Disadvantages to Support Their Community Participation
Center-based Employment
A variety of jobs are usually available and workers are matched to the work by their interest and ability. Some people work at supported employment jobs in combination with center based work. Ongoing assessment can help people with community job tryouts or placement at any time.
Workers are assigned an MRCI Rehabilitation Counselor who will assist them in planning and maintaining their job at the center. Once assigned to a work area, an MRCI staff person will provide direction and supply work materials supervises the worker. Most workers in the center based work locations are paid by MRCI, usually by the piece. Workers earn paid benefits including vacation hours, sick leave and holidays.
For those who choose not to work in the community or those who are in transition to a community job, MRCI maintains the limited option of center based work at some locations. Center based employment is available in Mankato, Fairmont, New Ulm, Chaska, Shakopee and Rosemount and involves work at an MRCI owned facility. Sub contracted work is provided in a factory environment usually in the form of packaging or light assembly.
