OWATONNA - MRCI WorkSource, which operates Welfare to Work programs in Blue Earth, Brown, and Faribault Counties, has recently begun operating in Steele County as well.
Marcia Highum, the MFIP Program Manager at MRCI, said five new staff members were hired to operate Welfare to Work Services. Those services include the Minnesota Family Investment Program, the Diversionary Work Program, and the Food Stamp Employment Training program in Steele County.
“We built the office from the ground up,” said Highum, who was recently named the MFIP Manager of the Year by officials with the Minnesota Department of Human Services. “MRCI employees work closely with the county financial assistance staff. In Steele County, their work spaces are right next to each other, which lends itself to open communication and a team approach on these cases.”
